Davido - One Of A Kind (Official Video)

Kissing Is So 2012: Time Get Your Oculolinctus On

That's right.  The French may have perfected the kiss, and Michael Douglas may have perfected it under the navel, but the Japanese have taken it to a whole nother level.

Next time you walk up into the club, just ask that lady/dude at the bar if you can lick their eyeball.

***Porn Alert (or at least I think it could be porn)***

This is Jason Kenney's Recurring Nightmare: Magic System et "Mamadou"

Had to brush up on my French the past couple days.

Here are the lyrics (paroles).

For some reason Blogger won't let me post the actual video (maybe I'm being censored?  Hmmm).  Anywho, here's the YouTube link.

Happy Father's Day! With Love from Stromae and "Papaoutai"

This song is dedicated to all the mothers out there that need to explain to their kids on Sunday where their father is.  Or if he's ever coming back.

Every man knows how to make a baby, but not how to be a father.

Here are the lyrics.

Odd Couple of the Century: BET and CBC Making "The Book of Negroes"

Yes, that's right.  BET and CBC are collaborating to put out Lawrence Hill's masterpiece, The Book of Negroes (as a TV miniseries).

Yup the same BET of BET: Uncut fame.

And CBC of Mr. Canadian Bigot fame.

I personally think that the book deserves the Spielberg or at least the Spike Lee or at leaaasssst the Tyler Perry treatment.  Shoot, I should at least be able to spend 25 dollars on popcorn and see it in the cinema.

But this might have the Roots effect for the twenty-first century.

Just don't let Jason Kenney or John Baird find out that Canadian taxpayer dollars are being used to support an international "terrorist" organization like Black Entertainment Television.

Man Goes to Jail for Slapping His Lawyer's Behind in Court

Please watch this video in its entirety.  Please.

And why did he have to be Black?  And why did it have to be Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson?  Why?  Anyone who changes their name to something cool should get a free pass from the law.  Metta World Peace?  Go beat up some fans (again), my friend.

Think about the kids, Chad.  The kids, dammit!

I wonder if he had kissed him on the lips if he would've gone to jail.  Hmmmm.

And maybe that bailiff who was breaking down laughing on video should go to jail too.  And why is everyone in the courtroom Black?  So many questions.  So many questions.

"It's Time for Black Scholars to Escape the Plantation"

It's sad to say but Boyce is right: I am a slave on the Academic Plantation.  Instead of slaving away cutting cane waiting for massa to throw me a pig tail or foot, I'm (re)writing a dissertation so massa can throw me a piece of paper with three letters on it.

The result is pretty well the same.  A false sense of security.

The article is here.

Here was my response to this article in a different discussion board:

For those of us Black Canadian advanced PhDs/academics, the situation in Canada is much more troubling than what Boyce describes.

We live in a country where Black people have been "erased" from the historical narrative and ghettoized/marginalized in the present-day "cultural mosaic."  So where is our place amongst the gatekeepers of the Ivory Tower of Canadian Whiteness?  Especially because we don't have any HBCUs.

And anyone who is familiar with the academe knows that agents of the Ivory "White" Tower deliberately and explicitly exclude/undermine/racially discriminate and just don't want Black people to even get the Ph-Dos.

Just don't say "yes massa" all day, change your name to Tom or Sally or Ben or Jemima, and lose your soul in the process.  It's not worth it.

Caribbean Premier League 2013 (T20 Cricket) Predictions

The draft is complete for CPLT20 2013 and here are my picks for the final:

Jamaica and Barbados.

Usually it's the "local" talent that are the wildcard in these kinds of tournaments.  And I'll admit I'm not as familiar with all the "local" West Indian/non-International/uncapped talent.  That being said, international superstars can still make or break a match.

Looking at Jamaica's line-up, it's hard not to pick them as the favourite considering they have three IPL players from the same damn team and who played matches - RCB.  Oh ya, and Gayle is playing for them (and making 24 million JA dollars in less than two months to play too).  And don't forget Australian Shaun Marsh and South African Vernon Philander.  Enough said.

Barbados is no slouch either.

Pollard is Pollard.  Can bowl.  Can bat.  Can field.  Internationals Malik, Al Hasan, and Akmal can play.  And Dwayne Smith was a force to be reckoned with as an opening batsmen for winning team Mumbai in IPL 6.  Jason Holder was also in the IPL and can bowl.

But all in all it seems like it will be an exciting tournament.

Olympics in 2012, CPL in 2013?  Hmmmmm.

Dear McGuinty and Judas Broten: Your Plan Didn't Work

I think it's probably easier to be a politician than a journalist.  So, I've decided I'm going to run for Prime Minister (Premier, Mayor, Councillor, whichever offers me the most sick days and scandal opportunities).  Who wants to write me a 90k cheque, let me smoke crack, rig elections, and finally destroy your child's future?

I think I'll add drinking and driving to my resume too.

Maybe I should be thankful that I have 365 sick days a year (on a particularly lucky year I get 366).  And maybe the "taxpayers" should be even more thankful that it doesn't even cost them a dime.

Check the story here.

Racist Canadians? Maybe Sydney Leroux Has a Point

I watched Sydney Leroux score the goal yesterday in the US-Canada "friendly" re-match from the Olympics and her "classless" reaction.  My Canadian reaction was: "she's one of those people that can't understand normal thinking."

Then I read this article from TSN and thought to myself: "this woman makes a very strong point."

This follows the article I posted a little while ago about Black Canadians leaving this country for the Slave South.  They felt they would have a fairer shot for an education and would be treated equally in a place where the KKK lays their bed sheets at night (which actually double as their for real bed sheets).

Coincidence?  I think not.

Black people fled to Canada from the US in the 19th century to escape slavery and racism.  Now they're running back (literally and figuratively).

Here's an excerpt from the article:

"When you chant racial slurs, taunt me and talk about my family don't be mad when I shush you and show pride in what I represent. .america," Leroux tweeted.

(Funny) Sh*T Fathers Say

I heard this with my own two ears this morning at the Bread & Honey Festival parade in Streetsville, Ontario.

Let me set the scene.  A good spot to watch the parade is at a church and cemetery along the route.  I heard this while a family was navigating the crowd on the sidewalk on their way to the cemetery.

Kid: "What's a cemetery?"

Mom: "It's where people are buried."

Dad knowing that Mom's answer is going to confuse the boy even more:

Dad: "It's where zombies come from."

That child will never, ever, ever, ever, walk past a cemetery for the rest of his life.  Ever.

I wonder how he'll teach his kid where babies come from?

Kid: "Where do babies come from?"

Mom: "Storks in the sky deliver them to loving mommies and daddies all over the world."

Dad: "Dad's happy place."
